All student ministry staff are church members who have been interviewed, trained, reinterviewed, and background checked.
Justin’s greatest passion is to introduce students to the living God and to cultivate a relationship with Christ and ignite a passion for His Word. There are many things in life to pursue but only one thing in life that satisfies and where our true identity is found, and that is in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Justin grew up not too far from Kindred, in Ventura, California. A wonderful gem located in between Malibu and Santa Barbra. There he went to a private Christian school for elementary and middle school, he then went to a public high school and graduated in 2005. After high school, he went to the local community college where he played golf and sought the Lord for what direction to take in life. In 2010 he graduated from Biola University with the degree in physical science but was uncertain where God was calling him. After a year off he felt the Lord calling him into pastoral ministry. During the year off he was given a heart for the people of God and for the church, he saw a lack of the theological literacy in the church and felt God was calling him to raise the theological literacy of the church. What better way than to cultivate a student’s relationship with the living God and ignite a passion for His word. In 2015 he graduated from Talbot School of Theology with a Master of Divinity degree.
Dennis has nearly two decades of teaching and administrative experience in public and private Christian high schools, including Brethren Christian High School, Lutheran High School of Orange, and Nova Academy Early College High School. Dennis has also worked as a resident counselor at Concordia University and served as an adjunct at Vanguard University and Biola University during the last ten years. Dennis has a wealth of experiences that make him an interesting and sought after speaker and teacher.
Reid Scherer is one of the interns at Kindred Community Church serving in the KSM. Having grown up in Kindred’s youth ministry, Reid understands the importance of solid teaching and leadership during a student’s teenage years and desires to teach and raise young people up who have a passion for serving God and who want to know Christ personally.
Reid has grown up here in Orange County and has been at Kindred since 2008. He graduated from Calvary Chapel High School in 2013 and is currently pursuing a degree in Business at Cal State Fullerton. After receiving his bachelors, Reid has the desire to go to a seminary where he hopes to continue to grow his knowledge and understanding of God’s Word.
Reid enjoys playing just about every sport, sharing the gospel globally, hiking, wake boarding, body surfing, hanging out with the youth, spending time with family and friends, and he loves Chick-fil-a.
