Join a Shepherd Group
Shepherd groups are a vital part of the ministry here at Kindred Church. Regional groups of about 10-15 people meet for the purpose of accountability, prayer, and the study of God’s Word. It is our desire that as many members as possible here at Kindred get involved in a Shepherd Group. Shepherd Groups are important for the following reasons:
- The Importance of Fellowship - Fellowship is not optional in the Christian life. It is one of the ways that a believer grows spiritually. The church is designed to be a relational community. One of the marks of a true believer in Christ is a desire for Christian fellowship (Acts 2:42, Hebrews 10:24-25, 1 John 1:7)
- The “One Another” Commands of Scripture - The New Testament exhorts us to “love one another” (Romans 12:10), “care for one another” (1 Corinthians 12:25), “serve one another” (Galatians 5:13), and “encourage one another” (1 Thessalonians 5:11). These commands can find expression in a healthy Shepherd Group.
- Spiritual Accountability - On Sunday morning, we come to hear the teaching and preaching of God’s Word. Yet what is equally important is the application of God’s Word (James 1:22). Shepherd Groups are an opportunity to be accountable for one’s spiritual life, and be encouraged in spiritual growth.
Shepherd Groups are one way that a “big church” begins to feel “small”. Many of our church members find that a whole new dimension of church body life opens up for them as they get involved with a Shepherd Group. We invite you to be part of what God is doing in the Shepherd Groups ministry.
